ZF and Aidrivers: working together for autonomous mobility solutions in port logistics

The need for autonomous cargo handling is growing in the world’s major ports. The vehicles in the ports, which are in use around the clock, play an important role in this. Building on their complementary portfolios, Aidrivers, which specializes in AI-powered autonomous mobility, will focus on providing a software ecosystem for autonomous driving as part of the cooperation. ZF Mobility Solutions will be the engineering partner for the integration, validation and deployment of the retrofitted vehicles, which can be used in mixed traffic without dedicated lanes for on-yard logistics solutions. This means that port operators will benefit from improved terminal safety and efficiency by using advanced autonomous technologies.

“Based on our many years of expertise in autonomous driving systems, we are now also looking forward to operating successfully on the market as a provider of mobility solutions,” says Alexander Makowski, Head of ZF Mobility Solutions. “In addition, we will utilize the entire expertise of the ZF Group in vehicle technology, for example in driveline electrification and vehicle dynamics control. And together with our global aftermarket organization, we will offer customer service directly on site.”

Dr. Rafiq Swash, CEO of Aidrivers, adds: “We are proud to have gained a global partner in ZF with expertise in autonomous driving in a wide range of applications, from passenger cars to commercial vehicles and special vehicles. This is the perfect fit for us as a small, innovative solution provider for autonomous driving in ports and logistics areas.”
