eMove360° hotel tip for battery charging: Hotel GUT Trattlerhof & Chalets in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Carinthia

For five generations, the tradition of hosting the Hotel GUT Trattlerhof & Chalets in the heart of the Carinthian Nockberge Unesco Biosphere Reserve has been in the hands of the Forstnig family. In order to continue this proud tradition, the current host Jakob Forstnig is involved in many projects for environmental and climate protection. ‘As hosts and parents, we attach great importance to protecting our environment and preserving natural resources for future generations. It is very important to us to show our guests how much we care about this,’ says Jakob Forstnig. For this commitment, the business has been awarded the European ECO Label and the Austrian Ecolabel. The efficient use of water and energy as well as the use of renewable energy are very important at the Hotel GUT Trattlerhof & Chalets. The Gutshof has its own power plant, which generates electricity using 100 per cent hydropower, making the Gutshof self-sufficient in electricity and energy. The entire operation was converted to regional district heating from renewable energies back in 2014.

Since then, a stay at the Trattlerhof has not only been CO2-neutral, but every guest also saves 58 kilograms of CO2-equivalent emissions per night compared to a reference hotel thanks to Trattler’s measures. The Trattlerhof is therefore the first Austrian hotel to issue its guests with CO2 certificates that certify how many greenhouse gases they have saved through their holiday at the Trattlerhof. Of course, holidaymakers can also actively participate in the environmental programme. For example, guests who choose not to have their room cleaned will receive an environmental bonus of three euros per day credited to their room bill. Preserving nature and natural resources also includes purchasing regional products. The use of seasonal food and drinks from the region as well as organically grown produce are standard here. As a proud holder of the Austrian Ecolabel and the European ECO label, electromobility is a high priority at the Hotel GUT Trattlerhof.

In the interests of sustainability, the Trattlerhof staff are constantly investing in environmentally friendly measures. In addition to the hotel’s own Tesla X100D and Tesla 3 as well as the Mercedes Benz B-Class Electric Drive, the Trattlerhof also offers its guests e-mountain bikes for hire. This year, the fleet was completed with the Peugeot e-Partner panel van. The entire fleet of the hotel and chalets is now electric.
