Cordiality with tradition: Mentioned in the 12th century as a tavern on the trade route from Salzburg to Munich, the Hotel Gasthof Moosleitner has retained its independence away from the hustle and bustle of culture and foreigners. The Moosleitner/Niederbuchner family has been running it as a family business since 1909 with a great deal of warmth and a sense of hospitality and sustainability. Most of the food comes from the Berchtesgadener Land biosphere region, with farmers from the immediate vicinity supplying organic eggs, potatoes, honey and dairy products. The sun provides electricity and heat via the roofs, supported by a combined heat and power plant and waste heat. Wood from their own forest is used for the furniture in the hotel, and the younger generation is already planting trees for their grandchildren. Host couple Beate and Toni Niederbuchner have been enthusiastic e-car drivers for years. Rental bikes and electric cars in the hotel fleet as well as eight e-car charging stations ensure emission-free mobility. If you want to get a taste of the city air, you can be in Salzburg in twenty minutes. The spa town of Bad Reichenhall is also not far away. The peaks of Staufen, Untersberg, Zwiesel & Co. are waiting for hiking enthusiasts and e-mountain bikers. The Weng golf course is practically next door, as are numerous lakes for swimming enthusiasts. Because everyone has their own preferences for recharging their batteries… sometimes it’s enough to sit on the balcony in the early morning and let your gaze wander over the lush green meadows.
