E-fleet expansion: NIO partners with FREENOW

The Chinese e-car manufacturer NIO has been supporting cab companies in Germany since the beginning of 2024 with the expansion of Freenow’s e-fleets, including in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich. With the partnership between NIO and FREENOW, cab companies that opt for a NIO model and are also FREENOW partners receive special conditions and benefits from both companies. To date, the NIO ET7 premium saloon and the NIO ET5 mid-size saloon are available for conversion into cab vehicles. The current delivery times are from six weeks with conversion by an NIO-certified partner. Joint events are planned, including regional test drive and information events. The kick-off event took place in Hamburg. The Hanseatic city is one of the cities with the highest proportion of electrically powered journeys on the FREENOW platform: more than 600 of the approximately 3,000 cabs on the road in Hamburg are currently electric vehicles. Over 85 percent of them are available via FREENOW. An urban Power Swap Station (PSS) is planned in the Hanseatic city, similar to the one that opened in Berlin at the beginning of July. At the planned PSS near the airport, cab drivers would then be able to automatically swap the empty battery of their NIO e-taxi for a charged battery in just around three minutes. Hamburg cab companies are receiving support from Kazenmaier Leasing GmbH, which is providing “Projekt Zukunftstaxi” with individual financing solutions.
