eMove360° hotel tip for battery charging: Gradonna Mountain Resort, East Tyrol

Close to heaven: with views of Austria’s highest mountain and the Hohe Tauern National Park, you can stay at the Gradonna Mountain Resort 1350 meters above sea level in chalets measuring up to 250 square meters or in comfortable Swiss stone pine rooms and suites located in the main wing or an iconic glass tower. Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows, fragrant woods and natural materials such as loden, linen and leather blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors and create harmony at the highest level.

What does the perfect fall day at Gradonna look like? Sleep in late, enjoy a hearty breakfast with local delicacies and then set off into the mountains by e-bike or on foot. Those who prefer to be guided rather than on their own can opt instead for a barefoot hike with the guides, a tour with the national park rangers or perhaps even a Grossglockner ascent with one of the Kals mountain guides. Back at the resort, the mountain spa is your favorite autumn hideaway: on around 3000 square meters, it has an indoor and outdoor pool, numerous saunas, relaxation zones and treatment rooms. And because a day in the fresh mountain air is known to make you hungry, the gourmet restaurant, which has been awarded 12 Gault&Millau points, beckons in the evening. It is the realm of head chef Michael Karl, who prepares delicious menus in the open show kitchen using herbs and vegetables from his own garden as well as game and meat from the surrounding forests or farms in the area.

However, sustainability and regionality are not only an issue in the kitchen: the Gradonna is the only resort in Tyrol to be certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. The hotel in the middle of unspoiled nature also has its own drinking water source, a bio-heat power plant, charging stations for e-bikes and e-cars and free train station shuttles.
