Premiere for Deutschlandnetz site in Bavaria: BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH opens charging park in Augsburg

On August 20, the first charging park in Bavaria commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) was opened by the project participants. The four new Hyperchargers at Gubenerstraße 7 in Augsburg are being built and operated by BayWa Mobility Solutions GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa AG. With the German network, the BMDV is creating 9,000 additional fast charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. They are being built in rural regions, in cities and at unmanaged highway service stations. With a total of 2.3 billion euros, the German network is the BMDV’s largest funding program in the area of charging infrastructure. On behalf of the BMDV, the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure plays an important coordinating role in the implementation of the German network and is responsible in particular for demand planning, checking technical requirements and data monitoring of the sites. Dagmar Fehler, Co-Head of the National Charging Infrastructure Control Center: “With the newly opened charging park, the German network is taking shape location by location. This is the next milestone and great news for e-car drivers. From today, they will find a new attractive charging option in Augsburg. The more than 1,000 locations with around 9,000 ultra-fast charging points in the German network are currently being implemented and will help to expand the charging infrastructure throughout Germany in a comprehensive, needs-based and user-friendly manner in the future. Every newly opened location brings us closer to our goal of helping climate-friendly e-mobility to succeed.”

Optimal connection between the B17 and A8

With the four new hyperchargers from BayWa Mobility Charging, customers in the Augsburg business park now have eight charging points including cable management and a fast charging capacity of 400 kW at their disposal. Well frequented by the surrounding infrastructure and in the immediate vicinity of the B17, with direct access to the A8, the new charging park is located on a strategically important traffic artery. This closes a previously “white spot” in the Germany-wide car charging network in the Augsburg East Oberhausen / Neusäß area. Three-meter-wide, paved parking spaces and a 4.5-meter-wide, barrier-free parking space ensure convenient parking and charging at the eight charging points. If you want to pass the short time while charging, you can use the public Wi-Fi on site. Thanks to camera surveillance, security is also guaranteed in the evening hours. Payment can be made with debit and credit cards, conveniently via app, or with all standard charging cards.
