Christine Grosse Lembeck takes over the management of BASF‘s global battery recycling business. In her new role, she will be responsible for further expanding BASF’s comprehensive solutions along the battery recycling value chain for battery producers, battery cell manufacturers and OEMs. Battery recycling is an integral part of BASF’s Battery Materials business. Grosse Lembeck holds a degree in business administration and joined BASF in 2012. Since then, she has held various roles in sales, controlling, strategy and marketing at different BASF sites and divisions.
“Battery recycling is an important building block for the transition to electromobility. It is essential to keep critical battery raw materials such as lithium, nickel or cobalt in the regional battery value chain and at the same time significantly reduce the carbon footprint of batteries,” says Christine Grosse Lembeck. “With our recycling solutions, which range from individual recycling steps to closed-loop concepts, our team and our partner network support our customers worldwide in building their recycling value chains. With digital end-to-end solutions, we also support our partners in meeting the requirements of upcoming regulations, such as the EU Battery Regulation or the European law on critical raw materials. The commissioning of our battery recycling plant in Schwarzheide for the production of black mass later this year is a good example of our determination to drive, invest and expand our business in Europe.
