Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP and the Volvo Group, aims to establish a reliable charging network for all battery-electric heavy trucks and long-distance buses, regardless of the vehicle brand. At least 1,700 high-performance charging points are to be installed across Europe by 2027. The first charging park went into operation in Venlo, the Netherlands, in December 2023. Milence is now entering the German market with two charging parks under construction. The opening is planned for the second half of 2024. The two sites, located north and south of Leipzig, will connect Berlin with southern Germany.
The first charging park is located at Hermsdorfer Kreuz in Thuringia, an important location in the Scandinavia-Mediterranean corridor, which connects the two major highways A4 and A9. In terms of positioning, the site is strategically located on the A4 between Poland and Frankfurt am Main. The charging park is expected to go into operation in September 2024 and will enable all electric trucks to charge their batteries – regardless of the vehicle brand.
The second charging park is being built in Vockerode in Saxony-Anhalt and is due to open in July 2024. It is strategically located on the A9 motorway between Berlin and Leipzig. Its location next to a new, secure truck parking lot will allow drivers to benefit from the best amenities. Once completed, both loading parks will offer a range of amenities to improve the rest and loading experience for drivers. These are not operated by Milence itself.
