Audi Q6 e-tron world premiere on March 18, 2024, in Ingolstadt

Connected and fully electric: Audi Q6 e-tron with new E3 electronics architecture and Premium Platform Electric (PPE)

With the Premium Platform Electric PPE, the Audi Q6 e-tron model series is the first Audi model to use the new E3 electronics architecture in version 1.2. The name E3 stands for End-to-End Electronic Architecture. The architecture is based on a new domain computer structure with five high-performance computers (High-Performance Computing Platform, HPC), which control all vehicle functions – from infotainment and driving functions through to semi-automated driving in later evolutionary stages. With the E³ 1.2, Audi is bringing the latest electronics architecture and software developed jointly with CARIAD to the models, including brand-specific features. The electronics architecture, which is used on a scalable basis in the Volkswagen Group, represents the next step in the digitalization of the model portfolio. In addition to a new infotainment platform based on an Android Automotive operating system, the E3 1.2 also creates the conditions for rapid software updates and upgrades.

The networking of various functions creates a completely new interior experience. The infotainment system offers new functions such as the Audi App Shop or new features in the navigation area, which will become even more tangible in future with the new display and operating concept: Precisely orchestrated displays showcase digital content in the interior and create a digital stage.

The Audi Q6 e-tron series is the first all-electric model to come from Ingolstadt. The headquarters will also become the first German Audi site with its own battery assembly facility. “With battery assembly, we are increasing the vertical range of manufacture in Ingolstadt and bringing important expertise directly to the site,” says Board Member for Production Gerd Walker. With the Q6 e-tron model series, Audi is underpinning its promise to offer electric models in all core segments by 2027.
