DFDS company fleet: Volvo receives order for 100 electric trucks

Volvo Trucks has received an order for 100 electric trucks from logistics company DFDS. With the order, DFDS has almost doubled its fleet of Volvo electric trucks to a total of 225 – the largest corporate fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe.

DFDS, the largest shipping and logistics company in Northern Europe, is seeing a growing demand for greener transportation solutions. The company has now placed another order for 100 electric trucks with Volvo Trucks. Previously, DFDS purchased a total of 125 heavy-duty electric trucks from Volvo. There are currently 95 electric Volvo trucks in operation in Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belgium and the Netherlands, with the remaining 30 to be delivered during 2024. Thanks to its growing fleet of electric trucks, DFDS has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 1,516 tons by the end of 2023. (Well-to-wheel. Source: DFDS, dfds.com)

The new electric trucks will be deployed in nine European markets, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden. The trucks will be the redesigned and more energy efficient models of the Volvo FH Electric (eMove360° Awardsieger 2023) and Volvo FM Electric. DFDS currently has the largest fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks in Europe and is well on track to meet its target of electrifying at least 25 percent of its truck fleet by 2030. Some of the new electric trucks will be used to transport goods to and from the Volvo Trucks plant in Gothenburg.
