NIO: Power swap station of the latest generation opened in Saxony

NIO recently opened the first Power Swap Station (PSS) in Saxony in Schkeuditz near Leipzig. The PSS in Schkeuditz is conveniently located near the Schkeuditzer Kreuz, where the A9 and A14 intersect. It therefore offers fast connections to Leipzig, Halle an der Saale, Berlin, Munich, Dresden and Magdeburg. Particularly advantageous: The route from Berlin to Munich and vice versa is now covered with two possible swaps, on the PSS Schkeuditz and on the PSS Regensburg. At the battery changing station, you can fully automatically exchange (swap) your empty NIO battery for a new battery within a few minutes, which has already been gently charged to 90 percent – an innovative service that so far only NIO offers. The PSS Schkeuditz is one of 18 PSS to date and the second Power Swap Station 3.0 in Germany. With their opening, NIO expands its network of PSS for battery swapping while strengthening the region’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

PSS: 3.0: The latest generation of battery replacement in Saxony In addition to the PSS Mühldorf in Bavaria, the PSS Schkeuditz now represents the latest generation of battery changing stations from NIO. As a third generation PSS, they offer space for 21 batteries and can perform up to 408 swaps per day. This means they have a 30 percent higher capacity than the previous generation. Another plus point is the improved speed of the fully automatic battery replacement: On PSS 3.0, this no longer takes 180, but only 160 seconds from the first opening of the PSS floor sliding doors to the last closing of the doors. This means that travelers or taxi drivers with NIO vehicles can get back on their planned route even faster.

Shortly after the opening, the new Smart Charging function will also be available. In order to reduce energy prices for users in the long term, the batteries are charged when the electricity price is cheapest. Battery replacement is still possible at any time during opening hours. For each battery swap, users only pay a service fee and an energy fee for the energy that they actually receive during the swap. Every battery change also includes a safety check to ensure the longevity and safety of the battery and the vehicle.
